Paving Checklist
- Setup and maintain the required Traffic Control Plan.
- Use an Internal Traffic Control Plan for trucking, staging, where to enter and exit the job site and where to safely park, etc.
- When approaching a job site observe traffic flow and road surface conditions.
- Wear proper PPE (preferably Class 3 vest/shirt, hard hat, boots, etc. per company rules). For night work add reflective pants or leg gators.
- Carry a whistle and flashlight.
- Watch your back and others around you.
- Stay out of equipment blind spots.
Always be visible to equipment operators. - Be alert to backup alarms and your surroundings.
- Watch both ways for construction equipment.
- Don’t walk or stand between equipment.
- Leave yourself an “out” – Stay away from live traffic side of paving.
- Recognize basic job site hazardssuch as tripping hazards, moving equipment, and dust.
- Stay hydrated.
- Be prepared for changing environmental conditions such as heat, rain, and cold.
- If you see something, say something. You see it you own it.Let site supervision know of any unsafe situations.
