Paving Checklist

  • Ensure trucks beds are clean and coated with an approved release agent.
  • Load truck in multiple drops to avoid segregation.
  • Tarp all loads prior to leaving plant.
  • Use proper ingress/egress traffic control locations for project.
  • Stay with truck when inline. Maintain adequate following distance to avoid accidents.
  • Ensure truck ticket is provided to contractor/inspector at start of unloading.
  • Follow instructions of dump person. Do not bump paver or MTV.
  • End Dump/Horizontal Discharge
    • Watch for overhead obstructions.
    • Verify tailgates are locked prior to loading.
    • Prior to dumping, raise bed on end dumps. Open tailgate only when instructed to by dump person.
    • Maintain proper brake pressure to avoid rolling away from MTV/Paver during dumping.
    • Lower bed prior to pulling away and avoid overhead obstructions (bridge decks, wires, etc).
    • Cleanout only at designated clean out locations.
    • Ensure tailgate is locked, mud flaps are down prior to leaving site.
  • Belly Dump Trucks.
    • Always overlap previous loads.
    • Watch for cues from dump person – unload at slow steady speed.
    • Only dump one load in front of the paver at a time.
  • If any mix is spilled on the roadway in front of the paver, the mix should be removed from the roadway or at least from the paver tracks areas.
  • Maintain cycle time and order when traveling to and from jobsite.
