{"id":40,"date":"2024-05-03T19:33:04","date_gmt":"2024-05-03T19:33:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pavechecklist.wpenginepowered.com\/?post_type=checklist&#038;p=40"},"modified":"2026-09-04T02:25:08","modified_gmt":"2026-09-04T02:25:08","slug":"tack-bond-seal","status":"publish","type":"checklist","link":"https:\/\/checklist.texasasphalt.org\/?checklist=tack-bond-seal","title":{"rendered":"Tack\/Bond\/Seal"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ensure existing pavement is clean and dry prior to tacking.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do not overlay recently placed crack seal materials.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify proper tack is used for project \u2013 verify bill of lading.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify handling\/storage\/cleanout procedures with tack supplier.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do not dilute emulsions in the field.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Determine appropriate rate for surface to be paved<strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify correct nozzles are used for product and application rate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify tack bar height (~12 in) and nozzle angle (~30 degrees).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tack all surfaces \u2013 even same day lift interfaces.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tack all vertical edges (curbs, structures, joints).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tack vertical face on internal longitudinal joints (except for PFC)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify tack rate and uniformity at beginning of shift.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Apply tack a minimum of 3 inches wider than mat width to provide for overlap on adjourning mat.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify uniformity of application routinely (distributor and spray paver).
